I love when artists use their fame as a platform to spread a message!
Recently, Chris Taylor, Solange Knowles, Twin Shadow and director Natalie Johns came together to create "Kenya," a donate to download track in support of The Coca Cola Africa Foundation's Replenish Africa Initiative (RAIN). The initiative brings together businesses and individuals in order to tackle the problem of access to water and sanitation in Africa.
Above is the official video for "Kenya," the music industry's official response to RAIN. All proceeds from "Kenya" will be used to provide clean water and sanitation resources to Africa's most needy.

Television host and Actress Mo'Nique will be adding another statue next to her Academy Award. The Human Rights Campaign has announced that the comedian will be receiving their 2011 Ally for Equality Award. The Ally for Equality Award recognizes the outstanding efforts of those who dedicate time, energy and a whole-hearted commitment to better the lives of LGBT people.
Mo'Nique has a long history of supporting the efforts of the Human Rights Campaign. Earlier this year, she had Bishop Carlton Pearson, a member of HRC's Region Council, as a guest on her show, The Mo'Nique Show. Last year at their annual reception dinner, Mo'Nique presented the HRC's Visibility Award to her "Precious" director Lee Daniels.
I love when Black Hollywood takes a stand and is recognized for it. Go head Mo!

I am a sucker for independent films and the latest indie to hit AMC Theatres, "Mooz-lum," is definitely a must see! The film ran a special promo where fans had to "demand" the film to come to their town and it was released in the top 10 cities. I voted twice and luckily for me it was released in Atlanta last Friday. I saw the movie last weekend and loved it. It's a great concept that has yet to truly be explored in cinema and the acting is excellent. I don't want to tell the movie so watch the trailer above. I'm hoping it will snag a few indie awards this upcoming season.

So i'm sitting here watching the Red Carpet at the Grammy Awards and here is the moment we all have been waiting for...Lady Gaga has arrived! True to Lady Gaga fashion, she is going all out for the awards show and has arrived in a large golden egg. The E! pre-show said it goes with the concept she has for her performance. I like it. Her new single is "Born This Way" and she is going to be born from this egg. Kudos Gaga!
